You’ve seen them. The clickbait websites that scream “MAKE $5,000 FROM HOME”! What they don’t tell you is how long it will actually take to get these ventures up and running. Yes, potentially you absolutely can and will make that money from home, but in most cases, it is not instantly. Let’s take a look at ways that you can start to make money fast online today.
We are focusing on side hustles that will not take a huge amount of start up time. These may not be huge paying jobs, but if you’re looking for an easy thing to do while you hang out in the evenings, some of these might be a great fit for you. If you’re new here, welcome! I’m Holly and I recently quit my job so that I could be a full-time stay at home mom to my two kids. Since thinking about leaving my job, I knew money would be tight. Enter: side hustles.
These jobs have given me my spark back. Just knowing that there are options out there that do not have me chained to a desk or an office away from my family every day has been a game changer.
If I was so in the dark about side hustles, then maybe some other moms (or anyone, for that matter) feel the same way and are looking for a way out. While the hustles below definitely won’t provide a full time income, a couple of extra dollars every month definitely won’t hurt anyone.
Freelance Work
As a freelancer, you would offer your services to clients on a project-by-project basis. Unlike traditional employees, freelancers work independently and are not bound by long-term contracts. They provide a diverse range of services across various industries, such as writing, graphic design, programming, digital marketing, consulting, and more.
These sites can get you started and working right away as a freelancer. It may take a bit of time if you are not sure what type of skills you’d like to bring to the table, but once you figure that out you should be able to earn fairly quickly.
Online Surveys & Reviews
I have tried surveys in the past like Swagbucks and haven’t had much success with them. I’ve figured out I definitely prefer side hustles where I can be creative and in for the long haul as opposed to answering questions for a quick payout. In my experience, Swagbucks took a while to earn points, but if you’re more patient than me, you’ve got nothing to lost. If you enjoy making money while you watch tv, that’s even better. These sites often pay via Paypal or other gift cards. Keep in mind that your time is valuable, so if you’re spending too much time not making much, time to move on to the next side hustle.
Branded Surveys has won several awards and seems to be the top paying survey website I’ve found. Surveys range from $0.30 – $5.00. I’m eager to try it!
Search Engine Evaluator / Train AI
The internet is a cool place! Companies like Telus are hiring people on a temporary basis to assess and evaluate various search engines. You can make anywhere from $3 – $20 /hour.
There are loads of opportunities to train AI with these websites. With Telus alone, you could do data annotation, data enrichment, online rating, or online maps and data analysis. The pay ranges from $8-$15 USD/hour. Telus notes you can expect to earn between $300-$2,000 per month with them. There may not be positions available, and you may need to take an exam to be qualified, but it sounds like a decent paying side hustle.
I am currently waiting to hear if I have been accepted into Data Annotation Tech. My husband and I completed the started assessments on January 8th and as of February 13th, we still haven’t received word if we’ve passed. The site seems to have gone viral thanks to TikTok and their great rate of pay $20+ USD/hour. An awesome side hustle if you’re able to be patient to find out if you’ve been accepted.
Website Testing
These platforms offer remote user testing and usability testing services for websites, mobile apps, prototypes, and other digital products. The platform connects businesses and website/app owners with users who participate in testing activities to provide feedback on the user experience.
These sites pay around $10 USD per session which lasts around 20 minutes. The downside: you might not always have tasks to complete so it is definitely not something that could replace an income.
Transcription
A transcriptionist converts spoken or recorded audio content into written text. Transcriptionists play a crucial role in various industries by providing accurate and verbatim transcriptions of interviews, meetings, speeches, podcasts, videos, and other audio materials.
The average employee just starting out with Rev makes around $156 per month. These rates will vary widely depending on the difficulty and length of the task, your skills, and the availability of work on the platform.
While these side hustles may not be brimming with creativity, you could start earning with them quickly. They are free to start and should not require much prep work to get going. We’ve only scratched the surface on side hustles that can be done to make money fast. Do you have any experience with any of these?
